Law Day Run 5K today. I have to go to the airport right now and don't have time for a full report, but here's the executive summary:  I managed to recruit a very fast Speed Team to represent my law firm  (Manning Curtis Bradshaw & Bednar) in the Speed Team Division. Our "A" team for the five-person Speed Team Division included Sasha, Jeff M, Josh Steffen, Megan Call and Johanna Nielsen.  (I was on the B Team). The A Team rocked the house and held off the Workman Nydegger team led by BJ Christensen and his friends.  BJ won overall, but we got to keep the speed team trophy for another year (It's now ten years in a row for our firm).  In the end, it wasn't all that close, particularly because oure women were VERY fast. Our "B" team placed third.

I finished 6th overall, running what for me was a decent race amidst some very good competition. Thanks to everyone for running!

Nice team effort and congrats on keeping the trophy in the firm. Do you get a bonus for your stellar recruiting?

From Chad on Sun, May 04, 2008 at 23:58:04

Jeff--I don't get a bonus, but I do get to keep my job!

Chad, nice to defend you title and keep the steak alive. 100 commando points for the win.

Chad, I don't know if I ever talked to you at the pre-race party in St.George in Oct. but I visited with your wife a bit. I realized you were a lawyer but never thought anthing more of it. I recently have had the oppertuninty of getting to know Steve and JoAnn a little more than I would have liked as I was one of the reasons they spent the last month in Richfield, But I must say that I was sooooo impressed with them and the dedication and effort they put into the case on our behalf. It wasn't just a job for them, it was personal and they were just amazing. We felt like they truely cared about us as individuals and the outcome as it appplied to us individually. I can't say enough good about the way they did the job with sooo much integrity! You really are privledged to work with some great people! I hope that I never have to EVER go through that again but if I do I hope I'm fortunate enough to have great people like them behind me!

(I knew that Steve did some running, and I tried to talk to him about it briefly, but it was the day of closing and he really had his game face on and I didn't get much out of him.)

Michelle--wow, what a small world! I had no idea that you were involved in that case. I know that Steve and Joann put their heart and soul into the case. You were fortunate to have them on your side, just as I'm fortunate to work with them every day. I'll pass your comments on to Steve, as I know he'll appreciate them.

Glad to hear that you didn't need me anyway, and kept you title!
